About the Roles
Would you like to be part of a team who are passionate, energetic and proactive in our range of support offerings to students? Are you keen to enhance students’ learning journey? Then we would like to hear from you. We have two Engagement Advisor roles available, working within a team advisors we all provide support services to students. One of the roles has a particular focus on Health and Wellbeing. These roles are varied and sometime challenging, so it requires a person who has a good understanding of themselves.
These positions are with the Learner Engagement team, where the purpose is to work with students, in collaboration with schools and teaching staff, to identify barriers to students’ engagement. To take action to remove or minimise barriers through a range of pastoral care that supports student success and retention for WelTec and Whitireia students.
Engagement Advisor Key Accountabilities (both positions)
- Work with students to identify barriers to students’ engagement and take action to remove or minimise barriers through pastoral care.
- Contribute to the vocational and educational welfare of students by advising, informing and assisting students to available support
- Use pastoral care strategies that develop independent learners
- Refer students to other internal and external services, as required.
- Monitor specific and general student engagement through their attendance at class in support of the school’s initial interaction with students who, are at risk due to attendance or other issues.
- Develop relationships with teaching staff in portfolio areas to promote communication about students’ progress and support required to deliver student success.
- Lead and participate in student events and activities
Engagement Advisor (Health and Wellbeing)
In addition to the above, this position is to provide expert advice and guidance to students and staff in the area of health and wellness.
- Engage with external stakeholders to raise awareness of; and access to health or wellbeing support
- Develop and lead a wellness plan that provides events and activities for and with students
- Support and provide coordination, advice and recommendations for health and wellness services across all WelTec and Whitireia
- Actively engage with students to promote health and wellness
- Manage health and wellness agreed and/or contracted services to ensure quality effective service delivery
Location
The Engagement Advisor, Health & Wellbeing position will be based across all Greater Wellington campuses. The other position will primarily be based at the Petone campus; however, you may be required to work at any of the Greater Wellington campuses; therefore, a full driver’s license is required for both positions.
Qualification/Experience
A relevant tertiary
qualification (degree level or above).
Experience of working in the tertiary sector and with adult learners.
Experience of working
in the health sector and working with adult learners (Health & Wellbeing position)
