IT Tutor - Teaching in China

Contract teaching in China, with Opportunities for Contract Extension

Overview:

Whitireia and WelTec are seeking three to five passionate and qualified IT Tutors for exciting fixed-term teaching opportunities in China. In these roles, you will deliver a range of courses from the first- and second-year Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT). Each course is delivered in block mode over 3-4 weeks. Depending on your subject expertise, contracts range from 3 to 12 weeks, with teaching taking place between February to April, and October to December 2025.

• Software Testing Fundamentals
• Advanced Software Testing
• Project Management
• Game Development
• Mobile Application Development
• Fundamentals of Data Science
• Introduction to Networking
• Systems Analysis and Design
• Interaction Design Fundamentals

Responsibilities:

As an IT Tutor, you will lead engaging and practical lectures, labs, and tutorials that captivate and educate students. You will have the opportunity to develop and update course materials that inspire and challenge learners, ensuring the content is current and relevant. Creating a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment is crucial, as is mentoring students and supporting their academic journeys. You will assess student performance, providing constructive feedback that helps them grow and succeed in their studies.

Qualifications:

To be successful, you must be available to travel to China February to April, and October to December 2025. A relevant master’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field is required, along with previous teaching or tutoring experience, preferably at the Polytechnic or university level. While travel experience is preferable, it is not mandatory.
