Overview

The School of Innovation, Design and Technology at Whitireia and WelTec is seeking to appoint a full-time tutor to join the IT Teaching team. You will be part of the team that ensures skilled graduates are well-prepared for employment in this high-demand industry.

We are looking for a tutor who is keen to pass on their knowledge and enthusiasm about learning and education. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, are essential, along with the ability to engage students in applied learning.

WelTec is looking for a motivated and experienced IT Tutor with expertise in Networking, Cloud Computing, and Cybersecurity. This permanent role is based at the Petone campus and may also involve teaching at our partner universities overseas. The role involves delivering a range of courses, from Bachelor's to Master's in IT programmes. We are particularly interested in applicants with expertise and experience in these specialisations.

Responsibilities:

Your primary responsibilities will include delivering interactive and practical lectures and tutorials, as well as supervising master's-level theses in IT. You will also be expected to foster a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere while providing mentorship and support to students.

Qualifications

• To be successful in this role, you should possess or be near completion of a PhD in information technology, computer science, or a related field.
• Previous teaching experience at the tertiary level and experience supervising master's-level theses are essential.
• In addition to the academic qualifications, relevant industry certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect and AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Certificate in Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK), or Certificate in Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) are highly desirable. Networking certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Professional (CCNP) will also be considered strong assets.

• Adult Teaching qualification is desirable.
