About the role | Te Kaupapa
We are seeking a passionate and relationship-focused Pacific
navigator to work alongside local secondary schools, communities, and health
providers to support Pacific students to engage in science, achieve
academically, and explore pathways into health and science careers.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to real change
for Pacific learners and workforce development in the Wellington region.
As the Whitireia and WelTec Pacific Health Science Academy
Navigator you will:
- Recruit and build strong
partnerships with secondary schools across Wellington
- Support Pacific students
to engage and succeed in science subjects
- Ensure parents are
informed and support their sons and daughters’ participation
- Develop and deliver
inspiring programmes, workshops, and events
- Connect Pacific students
with real-life health and science career pathways
- ork alongside Pacific
health providers and community organisations
This role contributes to:
- Increasing participation
in science subjects
- Improving NCEA science
achievement outcomes
- Strengthening pathways
into health and science careers
You will help Pacific learners see themselves in science,
and succeed in it.
The ideal applicant will have:
- Strong understanding of
Pacific communities, values and worldviews
- Excellent
relationship-building and engagement skills
- Experience working with
young people, schools and communities
- Ability to design and
deliver engaging programmes or events
- Passion for education,
science, and Pacific success
