Senior Advisor - Media
Permanent, Part‑time (0.5 FTE)
Whitireia and WelTec are seeking a Senior Advisor - Media to help shape and share our stories. As this is a newly established role, its focus may evolve over time.
You’ll be positive, proactive, and energised by the chance to help shape a newly created role. You’ll build strong relationships across the organisation and feel confident taking initiative as the role develops. Your ability to collaborate with others - sharing ideas, adapting to change, and contributing to a supportive team culture - will be essential.
About the role | Te Kaupapa
Reporting to the Communications Manager, this role is responsible for:
- Delivering media strategy, messaging, and engagement that strengthens our external reputation.
- Providing advice to identify and manage potential strategic or reputational issues.
- Developing and delivering internal and external communications across multiple channels.
Flexible and remote working options may be available; some on‑site attendance will be required.
Qualifications
and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification.
- At least five years' communications experience.
- Strong media relationships and the ability to build constructive external stakeholder partnerships.
- Proven capability in managing complex and ambiguous situations.
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to anticipate challenges and develop solutions.
