Tutor - Hairdressing

Are you an experienced and passionate Hairdresser with the desire to educate a new generation of like-minded people in the skills and knowledge of Hairdressing?

About the role | Te kaupapa

There is a growing demand for trained Hairdressers and to meet this demand WelTec offers training for people to become fully qualified Hairdressers as well as training for apprentices working in salons.

Academic quality is the cornerstone of our Centre and as such we are seeking to appoint a Hairdresser with excellent interpersonal skills and strong customer service orientation who wants to develop themselves as an academic educator and pass on their Hairdressing skills to our fulltime students and trainees from Industry.

Key Accountabilities | (Ngā takohanga matua)

• Course delivery, assessment and moderation
• Management of resources relating to the learning processes
• Regular progress reporting
• Working as a member of an academic team

You will be supported in this by an experienced team of Hairdressing educators.

Experience and Qualifications

You will have at least 7 years’ experience in Hairdressing and a New Zealand Certificate in Hairdressing, Level 4 or international equivalent. Have established contacts within the profession, demonstrated planning and organisational ability and an ability to relate to youth.  While preference will be given to applicants holding a tertiary teaching qualification, applications from experienced Hairdressers with the desire to undertake study towards a teaching qualification will be considered.
